The San Francisco Peaks at Sunset

Last night we were driving to Flagstaff and we witnessed the most incredible sunset over the San Francisco Peaks. It is on this mountain range that the Hopi Indians believed the human race landed from the galaxy Pleadis to make a home on Earth. There was a powerful energy about them as we drove West, directly into the sunset. An old classic came on the IPOD that amplified the tranquility and awe the scene inspired, "Stairway to Heaven," as Eric explained to me the ancient legends of the Hopis. He told me that they also believe, as the Mayans predicted, the world will end by 2012.

There's a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And its whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How evrything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

  1. When Bob and I were in Flagstaff and traveling around Arizona, the San Francisco Peaks were the first things I wanted to see in the morning, and all day long, I would find myself turning around to search for them if they weren't directly in my sight. A picture of them hung in my office, next to a picture of the Pleiades, taken at Lowell Observatory. I definitely felt the mystique of those mts., unlike any mt. range I have ever experienced before. A wonderful memory for me.
